Elon Musk & USAID
Democrats are melting down over USAID being on the chopping block, but let’s be honest—this is long overdue.
USAID has functioned as a slush fund, funneling billions to corrupt foreign governments, left-aligned NGOs, and ideological pet projects while American taxpayers foot the bill. The unit has over 10,000 employees and spends tens of billions per year. Cutting it isn’t just a win for fiscal sanity—it’s a win for sovereignty, small business owners crushed under the weight of big government, and every American sick of watching their money wasted on bureaucratic failures abroad.
Is USAID’s real purpose a tool for leftist influence?
The left is howling that this will “hurt American leadership abroad.” That’s nonsense. What they’re really upset about is that one of their key funding pipelines is drying up. USAID hasn’t been about genuine humanitarian aid for a long time—it’s been a tool to push leftist policies on countries that don’t want them. It bankrolls radical gender ideology in traditional societies, funds environmental extremism that cripples economic growth and is disjointed from the actual environmental argument (which is quite counterproductive), and props up foreign elites who play nice with the Democratic Party’s ideological empire. And all the while, we’re told we don’t have the money to fix our own roads, take care of our veterans, or support small businesses.
Funding opposition governments in Europe
USAID has been actively working against the conservative and nationalist movements that are rising across Europe. While voters in countries like Hungary, Poland, and Italy reject progressive politics in favor of policies that put their own nations first, USAID has been undermining that shift—using American taxpayer dollars to prop up left-wing activists, fund progressive media, and interfere in the political landscape of sovereign nations. Hungarian and Polish leaders have openly condemned USAID-backed organizations that fund opposition media, sponsor political protests, and push ideological policies that their citizens have explicitly voted against. In other words, USAID has become a foreign policy arm of the Democratic Party, working against governments that refuse to buy into the woke agenda.
Decades of waste and corruption
And it’s not just ideological—it’s financial mismanagement on an industrial scale. USAID has a long track record of pouring billions into failed projects with almost no accountability. Watchdog groups and government audits have exposed massive levels of waste, where funds meant for “development” vanish into the hands of corrupt foreign bureaucrats and NGOs with zero meaningful results. Programs meant to "strengthen democracy" in developing nations often amount to nothing more than propping up regimes that align with left-wing Western interests. Meanwhile, American infrastructure continues to crumble, veterans struggle to get proper healthcare, and small businesses suffocate under regulatory burdens. If USAID were a private enterprise, it would have gone bankrupt decades ago.
Democratic outrage: performative defense
The Democratic outrage over dismantling USAID isn’t about “American influence.” It’s about protecting their financial ecosystem. USAID has been a critical funding source for the global left, allowing them to interfere in foreign nations without needing congressional approval or public scrutiny. The agency operates with almost no oversight, shoveling taxpayer dollars into leftist-aligned NGOs under the guise of “promoting democracy.” The reality is that much of this money is used to destabilize conservative governments and advance progressive causes abroad in ways that would never pass at home.
A better path forward
Most Americans don’t believe in using government funds to manipulate foreign nations. That’s not leadership—it’s coercion. True leadership is about strong trade partnerships, diplomacy, and national security, not endless handouts to nations that will never be allies. If Democrats are so worried about “spreading democracy,” they can start by supporting voter ID and election integrity at home instead of throwing cash at foreign bureaucrats.
Cutting USAID isn’t going to make America weaker. It’s going to force a long-overdue reckoning in how we approach foreign aid. No more blank checks for corruption. No more taxpayer dollars funding ideological nonsense abroad. No more meddling in Europe’s political shifts while ignoring our own backyard. And no more using foreign aid as a backdoor to push progressive policies. This is a win for common sense, a win for fiscal responsibility, and a massive blow to the left’s global influence machine.
It is true - a tremendous amount of money funneled through USAID aligns with supercharged socialism, and it's completely unaccountable. I don't know if the entire unit needs to be scrapped, but there needs to be an instituted culture of accountability. We cannot have this department solely promoting leftist policies. Dismantling the waste is not a bad thing.
Something to ponder →
USAID has been involved in various controversial activities, often linked to covert operations, economic coercion, and failed development projects. Some of the most criticized actions include:
1. Cuban Twitter (ZunZuneo) – In 2010, USAID secretly created a social media platform in Cuba to incite anti-government sentiment, disguising it as an independent tech venture. It was shut down after being exposed.
2. Covert Political Interference – USAID has frequently funded opposition groups in countries with governments that the U.S. seeks to undermine, such as Venezuela, Bolivia, and Nicaragua. These interventions often destabilize nations rather than fostering democracy.
3. Involvement in Coups – USAID has been accused of providing financial support to groups involved in coup attempts, such as in Haiti (2004) and Honduras (2009), where U.S.-backed factions ousted leaders unfavorable to Washington.
4. Failed Development Projects – USAID’s large-scale infrastructure projects in places like Afghanistan and Iraq wasted billions of dollars on initiatives that were either abandoned, poorly executed, or looted.
5. Sterilization Programs – In the 1970s and 1980s, USAID was linked to forced sterilization campaigns in Latin America and Asia, particularly in Peru under President Alberto Fujimori’s government.
6. Agricultural Destruction – USAID has pushed genetically modified crops and chemical-dependent farming, displacing local farmers and harming biodiversity. Its involvement in food aid programs has also been criticized for undercutting local food economies.
7. Tied Aid and Economic Manipulation – Much of USAID’s aid comes with strings attached, requiring recipient nations to adopt neoliberal economic policies favoring American corporate interests rather than genuine development.
8. Funding Questionable NGOs – Many USAID-funded NGOs act as fronts for U.S. intelligence operations or pursue aggressive political agendas rather than neutral humanitarian work. This would include the confounding funding of migrant relief and helping migrants make it to America illegally.
9. Haitian Disaster Exploitation – After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, USAID funneled most aid money to American contractors rather than local recovery efforts, exacerbating poverty and corruption.
10. Destabilization of Ethiopia and Eritrea – USAID’s funding has been linked to groups that have exacerbated ethnic tensions, fueling conflict rather than peace efforts.
USAID’s reputation as a development agency is often overshadowed by its dual role as a tool of U.S. foreign policy, frequently prioritizing strategic interests over genuine humanitarian efforts.
